USS Massachusetts BB-59 Waterline Model

This waterline model of U.S. Navy South Dakota-class battleship USS Massachusetts (BB-59) is displayed at the Mariners Museum in Newport News, Virginia.  This battleship was commissioned in 1942 and decommissioned in 1947, earning eleven battlestars for crippling the French battleship Jean Bart, providing artillery support during the island-hopping campaign, and shelling industrial and military facilities in Japan.  "Big Mamie" was saved from scrap and towed to Fall River, Massachusetts, where she is now the largest museum ship in Battleship Cove.  I would like to see it there but I don't think any vacation anywhere is in the cards for the near future.
