Description
Though this has not happened for most of sixty years in real life, here are two of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway's most famous "Super Power" locomotives on the C&O Railway Heritage Center's model railroad. On the left is the 2-6-6-6 "Allegheny" (officially H-8), the world's heaviest and strongest steam locomotive. On the right is the 2-10-4 "Texas" (officially T-1), the C&O's biggest non-articulated locomotive, which the Pennsylvania Railroad liked so much it bought 127 of them. For either the Allegheny or the T-1, a few thousand tons' worth of loaded coal cars would not have been too much trouble.
