As of now, I've been in Japan for a month, and in my apartment in Shimizu for three weeks. It's still a bit difficult adapting to the language and customs here, but the food is delicious, my students are excellent, and I am taking lots of day trips when I can! So far, I've been to Tokyo, Ome, Saitama, Shizuoka, Shimizu, Fuji City, Nagoya, and Hamamatsu. I will be busy teaching until around Halloween, which is when I hope to visit the Oigawa Railway and the Shizuoka Daidogei World Cup (street performance art festival). Later in the fall, I may return to Tokyo for a weekend-long trip.
Largest folders?
What's your largest folder? Today I decided to check what my largest folders are (not counting any subfolders), and here is the list of all the folders with over 500 pictures so far. Surprisingly, there are several places where I remember taking a lot of pictures or spending a lot of time, but haven't posted that many pictures compared to others! 1000+ pictures Cosplay (3500) National Railway Museum (1191) Virginia (1143) Tokyo (1072) Yokohama and Kanagawa Prefecture (1050) 750-1000 pictures JR Japan Rail Group (941) Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Museum (933) Railways of Britain (883) Railroads of the USA (853) London (842) Railroads of Korea (814) Shizuoka Hobby Square and Shizuoka Hobby Show (794) Oigawa Railway (787) California (780) Shizuoka Prefecture (771) Virginia Museum of Transportation (767) 500-750 pictures Smithsonian National Air and Space Museums

"You will not find it difficult to prove that battles, campaigns, and even wars have been won or lost primarily because of logistics." - Dwight D Eisenhower Today is June 6 -- D-Day in the West and Memorial Day here in Korea -- and an appropriate occasion to share pictures of two U.S. Army Transportation Corps S160 Consolidations I have seen, both built by Baldwin in 1943. USATC 2253 was displayed at the Locomotion Museum in Shildon, England when I visited in August 2015 and was wearing black with the British, American and Polish flags on the bufferbeam to represent its service in the USATC, LNER and PKP. USATC 2630 served stateside as a trainer at Fort Eustis, Virginia and was displayed in green at the Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum in Sugarcreek, Ohio when I visited in October 2020.
2019 to 2020
This was a busy year but I liked it because of all the changes that happened, as I was able to finish writing my first book, move to an apartment, cook more dishes, travel more around the USA, and fly to Spain. What will I do in 2020? What should I do in 2020? I am keeping an open mind for next year. Happy New Year everyone!
Merry Christmas 2019
The original Star Wars trilogy on DVD arrived as an early Christmas present, so that's what I'm watching with my parents this holiday. I hope you all are enjoying the holidays too. Merry Christmas and may the Force be with you!

Congratulations on your first month in Japan. You seem to enjoy Japanese life and have already traveled several places particularly railway-related. Anyway, I pray for your health and safe.
