XX901 The Flying Mermaid Nose Art

The tradition of painting nose art and pinup girls endured into the 1991 Gulf War in the Royal Air Force.  Blackburn Buccaneer S.2B bomber XX901 The Flying Mermaid is decorated with miniature bombs and airplanes to commemorate its fourteen bombing raids, including one that destroyed a taxiing Iraqi military transport on the runway, as well as a nude flying mermaid subtitled Kathryn.
