Unbreakable Machine-Doll HARDWICKE

Description

The science-fiction manga/anime series Unbreakable Machine-Doll depicts a Britain in which "Machinart" allows the creation of intelligent automatons such as the titular girl Yaya.  London and North Western Railway (LNWR) Webb Precedent-class 2-4-0 steam locomotive No. 790 Hardwicke (Crewe Works, 1873), which appeared in the first episode as Hard Rock and went out of control until it was stopped by Yaya, shows its own style of Machinart in its shiny "lined blackberry black" livery at the National Railway Museum's Locomotion Museum in Shildon.  The Precedents were originally considered too fragile for main-line express passenger train work when they were introduced, as their frames were only 7/8 inch thick, and even the "improved Precedent" frames are all of 1 inch thick, though the Precedents could do almost 75 miles per hour with a light train and run up Shap Summit at high speeds.  If Hardwicke were humanized (an open-ended invitation to Kancolle-type gijinka artists), I imagine it would look like a Victorian "goth loli."

Awesome! Great to see another Machine Doll fan here! That anime needs more love, it's so underrated.
