Description

This wind tunnel test model of a Vought F8U Crusader jet fighter was built by Pepper Langley of the U.S. Navy Electronics Test Division Model Antenna Range workshop in the mid-1950s.  According to the placard at the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum in Maryland, it served as a target for antennas to focus on, similar to the Royal Air Force's use of Juan de la Cierva's autogyros as radar calibration targets during World War II.
