The Mardy Monster at Railfest 2012 by rlkitterman The Mardy Monster at Railfest 2012 by rlkitterman
This Peckett OQ-class 0-6-0 saddle-tank engine was built in 1954. It is the most powerful industrial locomotive in Britain, and is as strong as a 7F main-line engine. The Mardy Monster worked in a Welsh colliery from 1951 to 1976 and is still in operating condition. Its most recent operator seems to be the Elsecar Heritage Railway in South Yorkshire, though the engine appeared at Railfest 2012, NRM York.
