Description
The first locomotive of the Shizuoka Railway (Shizutetsu) was an 0-4-0 saddletank engine imported from Baldwin (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA). Shizutetsu No. 1 is shown in this picture around 1908, with coach No. 1 and the train crew. Within twenty years or so, the short Shizuoka-Shimizu railway would be electrified, and steam locomotive No. 1 would be scrapped. This picture is on display at the Verkehr (Shimizu Port Terminal) Museum.
