Description
The final development of the WWII-era North American P-51 Mustang was the Piper PA-48 Enforcer. This light ground-attack plane was tested by the U.S. Air Force from 1983 to 1984, but was not ordered, and did not receive a military designation. Its wings could carry various combinations of machine guns, bombs, and rockets. The Enforcer is on display at the National Museum of the United States Air Force (Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio).
