Pan Am Boeing Airliners

Description

Pan American World Airways had a history of buying large Boeing airliners, such as these two Corgi models on display at the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum in Maryland.  The Boeing 314 four-motor flying boat (NC18605 Dixie Clipper) entered service in 1939, crossing the Atlantic and Pacific oceans before, during, and after World War II.  After converting to jetliners early with the Boeing 707, Pan Am then bought the world's first jumbo jet, the four-engine Boeing 747 (N753PA Jet Clipper Westwind), which can carry about 400 to 600 passengers at 600 miles per hour.

It's mindboggling to think that just 30 years separated the two aircraft!
