Description

Norfolk & Western Railway G-class Consolidation (2-8-0) No. 6 was built by Baldwin in 1897. It was a strong engine for its time, capable of pulling 50 freight cars at 35 miles per hour. As the years wore on, G-6 could not pull the increasingly heavier trains, and was sent to the Abingdon Branch in the southwestern part of Virginia. It was retired in 1955, and is the oldest locomotive at the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke.

G-6 just reminds me of Carlos the Mexican Locomotive; 1st winner of the strongest engine race years back and the oldest contender of the International Train Show
