Description

North Eastern Railway (NER) tank engine No. 66 Aerolite was built in 1869 to pull the chief mechanical engineer's official inspection train, and was rebuilt several times before being retired by the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) in 1933 as a 2-2-4 steam locomotive.  When I visited the National Railway Museum, it had the honor of sitting on the turntable, which dates back to 1954 and is most of a century newer than Aerolite.
