Description

"Phantom" was a 4-4-0 steam engine built in 1857 by William Mason for the Toledo and Illinois Railroad. This beautiful blue engine has many of the features of the "American standard" 4-4-0, such as the wide smokestack, cowcatcher, banded boiler, and decorative headlight. The scale model is in the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Museum.

That is an excellent museum. I went there several different times when I lived in Baltimore.
