Description

Entering service in 1955, the 5800-horsepower Ae 6/6 was the first Swiss Federal Railways (SBB-CFF-FFS) electric locomotive class to have its engines named.  The first batch (11401-11425) were named for cantons, and each locomotive wore its namesake canton's coat of arms on its sides.  The second batch (11426-11520) were named for cities or communes.  The Ae 6/6 was one of the main locomotives on the Gotthard Route until replaced by the Re 4/4ii and Re 6/6.  This Marklin model of No. 11425 Geneve (Geneva/Genf/Ginevra) is on display at the National Toy Train Museum (Strasburg, Pennsylvania).

Also only the first batch hat the chrome decorations (the silver lines at this model). The second one were plain.
