Description

In 1868, London, Brighton and South Coast Railway (LB&SCR) chief mechanical engineer William Stroudley rebuilt one of John Chester Craven's steam locomotives as 0-4-0 well tank engine No. 400.  This small 7mm scale model of the locomotive, which includes a figurine of the driver standing in the cab, was built by P.D. James of Winchester, England, who exhibited the model at several shows before giving it to Mr. Sam Moore.  Mr. Moore's widow, Mrs. Suzanne Moore, later donated the model of No. 400 to the Bluebell Railway, and it is now on display at the Sheffield Park Station railway museum.
