Description

The Sukhoi Su-22 was an export version of the Su-17 Fitter, which entered service in 1970 as the first variable-sweep-wing jet fighter in the Soviet Air Force.  The Hungarian Air Force (Magyar Légierő) maintained a squadron of Su-22 fighters, as well as three jet trainers, all of which were retired in the 1990s.  This model of a Su-22M3 with under-wing missiles is on display at the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum in Maryland.
