Hokutosei EF510.501

Recently demoted from a regular train to a seasonal train and soon to be abolished entirely, the Hokutosei (North Star) limited express is one of the few remaining night trains in Japan.  Its ten sleeping cars (plus a dining car and generator van) carry passengers from Tokyo Ueno Station to Sapporo, the largest city in Hokkaido.  From Tokyo to Aomori, Hokutosei is pulled by a specially-painted JR East EF510-class electric locomotive such as EF510.501, represented by this model seen at a model train show at Shizuoka Twin Messe.
