Hiller 1031-A-1 Flying Platform

The Hiller 1031-A-1 is the second of a series of flying platform prototypes built for the U.S. military during the 1950s.  It was lifted by a ducted fan using ground effects, and could be controlled by leaning forward, backward, or sideways.  The flying platform never entered production, but it has been preserved and put on display with the helicopters at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.
