Great Eastern Railway 0-6-0 Tank Engine No. 87

Description

This steam engine is not Thomas the Tank Engine. It is very similar though. It was built in 1904 as Great Eastern Railway Class S56 0-6-0 tank engine No. 87. When the GER became part of the LNER, it was reclassified to J69.  Used for commuter services out of London Liverpool Street station, the J69 "Buckjumpers" could exceed 60 miles per hour.  No. 87 was on display at the National Railway Museum with the smokebox open when I visited in April 2011, though it is apparently at Bressingham these days, still wearing GER blue.
