Description

One of the traditions I remember from my college days at the University of Southern California (USC) was seeing the Goodyear Blimp flying over campus whenever there was a football game.  Goodyear still flies airships, but its last true blimp, GZ-20 ship N2A Spirit of Innovation, was retired in March 2017 and replaced with a semi-rigid airship.

My dad back when he was in college worked on the ground crew for the Goodyear blimps. He was one of the guys who ran out grabbed the ground lines and helped pull the thing to a stop. He said you went through a pair of sneakers about every two months because of being dragged along the ground so much.
