Duchess of Hamilton

Description

One of the most famous engines at the National Railway Museum in York is the Duchess of Hamilton, a 1930s express steam engine of the LMS Railway, No. 6229. In the 1930s, everything was streamlined in the Art Deco movement, and the Duchess of Hamilton was given full-body streamlining, painted maroon with gold stripes. The streamlining was removed in the 1940s during the war, and was not restored until the Duchess was placed in the Museum's collection. Now everyone can admire the Duchess.

Lovely lines! I still prefer without streamlining, but to each his own.
