Description

Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad 2-6-6-2 articulated steam engine No. 1309 was the last domestic steam engine built by Baldwin, and one of the last steam engines built for the C&O. It rolled out of the Baldwin works in 1949 and went to work pulling long, heavy coal trains on twisted mountain lines. No. 1309 was retired in 1956 after only seven years of service, and was sent to the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Museum in 1972.
