Description
The Buffalo Creek and Gauley Railroad (BC&G) was a coal-hauling short line in West Virginia that operated from 1904 to 1965. For its entire 61-year history, the BC&G used only steam engines, never switching over to diesels. One of its surviving steam engines is No. 14. It is a 2-8-0 (Consolidation) built by ALCO in 1918, and it served until the line shut down. Since then, it has been given an excellent cosmetic restoration, and now looks as good as new in a park next to the railroad station in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
