Description
Bauxite is an 0-4-0 industrial tank engine built by Black Hawthorn of Gateshead in 1874. It is on display at the National Railway Museum in "unrestored" condition, and is coupled to an equally dilapidated-looking Eastern Counties Railway (ECR) coach of 1851. Most locomotives end up looking like this near the end of their active lives; what we see in museums and on tourist railways is the product of a concerted effort to make the locomotives look "good as new."

Are there any plans to restore this fine little tank?
