Description

LMS 5596/BR 45596 Bahamas is a Stanier Jubilee-class 4-6-0.  It was built by the North British Locomotive Company (Glasgow, Scotland) in 1936 as a passenger version of the Black Five 4-6-0.  In 1951, it became one of the last British Railways locomotives modified while in service, receiving a double blastpipe and chimney.  It was retired from Stockport in the Manchester area in 1966, and bought from BR in 1967 by the Bahamas Locomotive Society.  Though normally kept at Ingrow on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway in West Yorkshire, it appeared at Railfest 2012 (NRM York) in BR lined black.
