Description

Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit (BMT) Type Q railcar No. 1417 was built by Jewett in 1908 for elevated lines.  In 1938, it was rebuilt to run as No. 1612C in three-car trains.  The next year, it was further rebuilt as a closed-platform car and repainted blue and orange for the 1939 World's Fair in New York City.  It ran for another thirty years before being retired from the Myrtle Avenue Elevated Line in 1969 as one of the last elevated railcars running in America, and has been restored to the "BMT Lines 1612C" identity and World's Fair livery for display at the New York Transit Museum in Brooklyn.
