Description
Nicknamed the Frogeye for its distinctive front, the Austin-Healey Sprite was a British sports car built from 1958 to 1971. It was both cheap and fast, and sold almost 130,000 units. This Sprite at the San Diego Automotive Museum was a 1961 model, the last to feature this front end before a radical redesign made the Sprite look like a conventional sports car. The headlights were supposed to be retractable, but Austin-Healey's owner BMC fixed them in the "up" position to save money.
